Fresh seafood, nice people and joie de vivre.

Tigu's founder, Kristel Randrüüt, had just returned to Estonia after living and studying in France. Back in Tallinn, she missed those simple local around-the-corner places, where you could gather with friends to enjoye nice wine and seafood. So she decided to establish a place of her own in the beautiful and historic residential area of Kadriorg in Tallinn. 

Tigu opened its doors with the Beaujolais Nouveau party of 2006. Tigu became quickly popular with it's ouststanding seafood, varied choice of wines and homely service. Kristel herself was the chef, manager and sommelier all in one, while her son Sten helped with the dishes and simpler kitchen tasks, two waitresses were also hired.

Tigu means snail in Estonian and actually our restaurant has moved around the country many times. In 2013 we landed in the Old Town of Tallinn. Now Kristel herself is more of a visionary and a counselor, while her son is full time chef in the kitchen and the original two waitresses are running the front of the house. While Tigu's location has changed over time, the team and the passion for great food has remained the same.

Tigu kitchen – the freshest seafood available 

We mainly focus on seafood - fresh oysters, mussels, scallops, prawns, clams, but also fish such as tuna, sea bream, sea bass and more. Some meat dishes are also occasionally featured, such as an entrecote or a duck leg confit. Since we use fresh products, our menu changes slightly almost every day. We like to keep everything simple, fresh and of highest quality. 

Our menu is heavily focused on providing the best and freshest seafood available. The presentation of the dishes is simple, setting the main attention to the taste and the quality of the produce. Of the best quality are also the few non-seafood-items on our menu such as Argentinian beef, veal liver from Netherlands, New Zealand lamb etc. 

Our beverages are chosen carefully to compliment our dishes and to convey the Southern European essence. We mostly offer French, Italian and Portuguese wines and also many spirits such as cognac, armagnac, aguardente, grappa etc. 

House recommendation:
Our fresh oysters, prawns with chili and garlic and a big seafood mixpot are the biggest favourites.
