Less is more and simple sincere things matter in life.

When we were starting our restaurant and met in this house for the first time, it took us 15 minutes to agree on what our restaurant should not be like. In another 15 minutes it was clear that all the decent names had been taken.

This was not unlike the first grand challenge every garage band has to meet. We had the right haircuts, we knew what a band should not sound like but we had no name. After a few hours of silence, we disbanded in desperation, just like thousands of musicians after their first rehearsal.

The next morning, however, we met in the same address – Rataskaevu 16. “Naming rehearsals” became an everyday routine and it didn’t take long before we were having fun. In order to avoid the annoying name problem, we took up other topics and the conversation became interesting.

As we were spending days like this a certain kind of an atmosphere began to develop around us. It was something every one of us had been longing for, but had never been able to describe. It contained food we found delicious, people we liked and the space we wanted to be in. And that’s how it has remained. In modern art terms, this is what you call “work in progress”. You’re welcome to join in!

We have a simple menu, which changes during summer and winter season. We use fresh ingredients and have special local dishes in our menu. Try our pumpkin puree soup with mozzarella cheese, braised elk meat and chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream!

The wine is also selected according to our menu and the primary ingredients in it. We change the wine list and soft drinks menu with the food list twice a year.

Chef

Veiko

Veiko has been our head chef from the beginning. He even makes the house bread himself using a secret recipe from his grandmother. He wants to use fresh ingredients according to the season.

“We have these small animals that we put on the table with a reservation note. One evening a guest came from India and saw a lion on his table. He was so happy, because it turned out his last name was indeed Lion. So, we gave the small lion to him as a gift”.
