Describe your restaurant:
Entering the narrow basement on the corner of Vase and Faehlmann, you will end up in a cozy home with an open kitchen rather than an institution you are used to having as a restaurant. Tiina Treumann, who has a background in the fashion world, only edits here, and in the restaurant business in general, for the fourth year in a row, and is a perfect example of how hard it is to be hard-working and find good people. He is especially happy about the latter, even though so many of them are taking their first steps in the food world. But not by stumbling! Nordic White Guide, the guide to Nordic restaurants, ranked Salti among the top 100 places in our region right from the start.
What is your own recommendation from the menu, why:
The food here is really constantly changing, driven by the seasonality of the raw materials and the new ideas that emerge in the course of the work. However, there are also three whales in Salti’s cookbook that are not moved by the most sudden outbreak of creativity: risotto, grilled octopus, blue mussels – they are all over the city, customers say. In other respects, the dining table is as varied and varied as the fun at night. And the open-air amusement park full of flavors is run by open-minded chef Marko Kaljend, Marko just arrived from Copenhagen, where his food knowledge was supplemented at Kadeau, one of the 100 best restaurants in the world.
Tell us about the chef of your restaurant. What is the kitchen philosophy?
Salt is a small restaurant in Kadriorg area, where we would like to offer you progressive social food and some extreme fusion also on the nice cozy atmosphere, with open kitchen. Our professional team will take care of you from the very beginning and also match the right wine with food. Our Chef is young and talented Marko Kaljend and as he says, we wait for our guest to moan of pleasure after a meal … We offer a lot of world classics, what is made our way from local fresh and seasonal ingredients. We also not affraid to use new and exciting and mix it uneexpectedly. On the warm period we also have a small street terrace, where is nice to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of some interesting artisan producer wine. Salt is a small restaurant in Kadriorg, where we offer progressive social food in the key of a small extreme fusion in a pleasant homely open kitchen atmosphere. Our guests are taken care of and matched with the right food by the experienced hall staff. The kitchen team is led by chef Marko Kaljend.
